Overview

An extension of Gallagher’s regional and national management team with local authority, the Area President will oversee all strategic and tactical operations functions of the GTHA branch. This leadership position will extend to implementing business strategies, developing and achieving sales goals, investing in key talent, driving and communicating financial goals, and achieving operational excellence. How you'll make an impact

Business Strategic Management

  • Leads, personally participates in and is responsible for, all business activities of the branch offices.
  • Serves as principal local advocate (inside and outside the office) in communicating the Gallagher CORE360 value proposition, the capabilities of the firm, our business philosophy and core values.
  • Contributes to the expansion of the company’s footprint in GTHA with an eye toward acquisition, hiring talent and organic growth.
  • Collaborates with regional leadership to establish annual and three-year business plans for the GTHA branch’s and implements strategies to exceed growth, productivity and profitability ratios.
  • Holds annual strategic planning meetings with key personnel and ensures alignment of their teams to the overall plan.
  • Regularly reviews progress against the branch dominant priorities, making adjustments as needed.
  • Ensures the branch embraces professionalism, compliance and E&O standards.
  • Drive needed change through effective communication.
  • Supports all company initiatives, driving adoption at the Branch level.  
  • Sales Management
  • Drives organic growth by providing leadership to the branch in both strategic and day-to-day sales management.
  • Ensures Producers have clear goals and business plans and are performing to standards (driving growth, utilizing available tools, supporting individual and team deals, contributing to target niches and cross-solving opportunities, etc.)
  • Monitors production pipeline, using Salesforce.com, to ensure consistent and sustainable growth.
  • Develops the skills of Producers through support of individual and team deals, leadership of new business meetings, Town Hall events and Account Team renewal meetings.
  • Serves as the advocate for, and coach to, all office employees.
  • Focuses on employee engagement, training and development to reduce turnover, achieve high employee performance and to increase the high-performer retention rate.
  • Implements appropriate succession plans to guarantee the continued success of the office.

External Growth

  • Develops potential merger and acquisition partners.
  • Identifies and recruits new producer hires and profitable book purchase opportunities.

Client and New Business Management

  • Serves as the principal client retention and new business champion in the office, ensuring the delivery of service excellence, including implementation and oversight of client service best practices and procedures.
  • Maintains an ongoing relationship with the top-level decision-maker of major clients.
  • Supports Producers and Account Management Teams in dealing with difficult client issues and claims management.

People Management and Development

Ensures focus on people development, employee engagement and branch culture to include:

  • Sourcing of external top talent for recruitment
  • Succession planning for critical roles
  • Development of key talent
  • Performance management of under-performers
  • Completion of performance reviews
  • Effective use of compensation to reward performing employees

Market Relations

  • Maintains and develops top-level market contacts on a local basis, ensuring the Branch benefits from strong relationships.
  • Develops a strategy for strengthening particular market relations to strategically fit our clients’ needs. Where applicable, works with relevant parties to negotiate favorable profit sharing agreements. 
  • Provides leadership to marketing initiatives to ensure the branch is accomplishing its goals.

Operational Efficiency

  • Works closely with VP of Operations to ensure adoption of our target operating model with a focus on ongoing improvement of adoption.
  • Champions client experience and ensure that all clients have a high degree of satisfaction with the level of service they receive.
  • Adopts new technologies, resources and processes to help drive operational efficiency will maintain a keen focus on employee satisfaction.

Financial Performance

  • Manages P&L to ensure budgeting and sales forecasting commitments are achieved.
  • Conducts monthly financial review session with each unit of the branch to identify opportunities, risks and mid-term adjustments as needed.
  • Monitors and champions collection efforts to ensure timing payment by clients.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years’ leadership experience in insurance brokerage
