Position Overview: The Managing Director, Global Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Gallagher's international growth strategy within the Clements Worldwide business. This executive position is responsible for identifying and capitalizing on global market opportunities, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring alignment with the company's overall vision and objectives. The person will provide critical insights into political and economic events that impact business outcomes and facilitate essential relationships between governmental agencies and multinational business partners. This role will work closely with senior leadership to enhance our international presence and deliver value to our clients worldwide.


How you'll make an impact

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive international strategy that aligns with Gallagher's corporate goals.
    • Identify emerging market trends, competitive landscape, and growth opportunities in the global insurance sector; with specific focus on foreign service, nonprofits and NGOs, military abroad, government contractors, and international and diplomatic relations.
    • Develop strategic action plans targeting specific geographic regions to drive business development and enhance client service.
    • Provide strategic messaging and insights for large multinational prospect/client meetings.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and ensure successful implementation.
  2. Market Expansion:
    • Evaluate and prioritize new market entry opportunities and partnerships.
    • Oversee the development of market entry strategies, utilizing best in class data analytics to understand current market penetration, identify opportunistic growth, and asses competitive landscape.
    • Collaborate with regional leaders to tailor strategies to local market needs and regulatory environments.
  3. Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Provide visionary leadership to the international delivery team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
    • Collaborate with senior executives across business units to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
    • Keep key stakeholders informed of political and economic events domestically and abroad that influence business outcomes.
    • Act as a key advisor to the Clements executive team on international business.
  4. Client Relationship Management:
    • Identify and develop targeted client strategies based on unique insights into multinational relations, insider knowledge, and real-time global trends.
    • Act as the primary liaison and introducer between governmental agencies, multinational partners, and Gallagher Clements.
  5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of international growth strategies and market penetration.
    • Regularly report on progress, challenges, and opportunities to the Clements executive team.
    • Adjust strategies as needed based on geo-political events, insider knowledge and market feedback.

About You

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and execution within domestic and international relations, with a focus on international markets.
  • Proven track record of successful market expansion and business development.
  • Strong understanding of international political and economic environments, particularly in diplomatic and defense sectors.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with governmental and multinational partners.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
